Paul J. Nini is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Design at Ohio State University, retiring in 2024 after 33 years of service in roles including Department Chairperson, Graduate Studies Chair, Undergraduate Studies Chair, and Visual Communication Design program Coordinator. He’s also taught as a Visiting Lecturer at the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the University of Cincinnati.

Paul’s writings have appeared in numerous publications (via AIGA, Allworth Press, Bloomsbury, de.Mo, Design Issues, Eye (UK), ico-D, Information Design Journal, Princeton Architectural Press), and he’s presented at a variety of national and international design and education conferences. He is a former member of AIGA’s Design Educators Community Steering Committee. He has served on the editorial board of Communication Design: Interdisciplinary and Graphic Design Research and on the advisory board for AIGA’s Dialectic journal.
