Every year, we invite honorary jurors who are the movers in a design discipline, both professional and educational. They will evaluate design competition entries from around the world. We thank their valuable service to UDA.



Honorary Jurors are…


JOHN COY

AIGA Medalist, CEO Coy LA, USA
John Coy is one of the founders of the AIGA/LA chapter and its first president. His work has influenced Los Angeles through work for LACMA, The Getty Center, and the Pacific Design Center. He has defined design in Los Angeles. 


ALAN COLVIN

Creative Director at CUE, Minneapolis, Minnesota USA
Alan Colvin has worked within branding and design companies, on the client-side, as an independent consultant, and as a business owner. Working with some of the best creative talents in the world, across design and communication disciplines, and including two AIGA medalists, Alan has created and led the creation of award-winning work in brand identity, print, packaging, digital and environmental design. 


JOACHIM MULLER-LANCE

Creative Director at Kame Design, Germany
Joachim’s capabilities span across information design, logos and identity design, illustration and character creation, typography and typeface design, offering 31 years of experience in print media and 21 years in web, interface and type design. He has taught and lectured on information design and type design in over 10 countries. His work is characterized by an expressive, direct visual language that always comes to the point. The diverse background and interest in Asia and Europe make him quintessentially cross-cultural, between modernist and experimental.

MARC GUITART

CEO & FOUNDER Brandcelona and Brandlond
Marc is a cross-sectional designer and brand consultant. He founded brandcelona® in Barcelona and brandlond® in London, a business creative consultancy agency. Combining brand design and consultancy services with university teaching. Marc Guitart has been awarded throughout his career with several international prizes and also teaches and gives lectures in different universities internationally.


MELIKE TASCIOGLU

Associate Professor, Anadolu University, Eskisehir, Turkey
Melike has been teaching graphic design, book design, printmaking, drawing and graduate courses on identity design, environmental design, infographics, and design research. She has conducted workshops worldwide and has worked on printed matter. She has opened solo exhibitions with her print works and has written two books on book design and environmental graphic design. Her design works are mainly focused on book design, and is working on research projects on design.


MARIA ROGAL

Professor, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, USA
Maria directs the new Design & Visual Communications MFA at the University of Florida where she has taught graphic design for two decades. She is the founder of D4D Lab, an award-winning initiative to co-design with people in local communities. Through D4D, she has collaborated with Indigenous entrepreneurs and community leaders in México, subject matter experts, and students to generate sustainable local outcomes supporting self-determination. Maria has lectured and published about social and co-design, recently co-authoring “CoDesigning for Development,” which appears in The Routledge Handbook of Sustainable Design. Her research has been funded by AIGA, Sappi, and Fulbright programs, among others, and her creative design work has been featured in national and international juried exhibitions.
