UDA Annual Int’l Research Journal 2020

The purpose of the Design Behaviors journal is to standardize research methodology and terminology related to all design disciplines.

The design originated from nature/environment, and we understand our existence in nature/environment by how design influences us in a conscious or/and unconscious manner. Its power is evidenced by how we know, what we buy, where to go, why we act, and most of all; it shows where we are now and where we are going. Furthermore, it can be described as a sustainable or ephemeral design based on its function and message. We acknowledge its aesthetics and purpose through the five senses (sight, touch, taste, smell, and sound). Also, it manifests our feelings and conceptions. Naturally, the design is our entity.

With those characteristics, we cannot describe it as a natural outcome; its aesthetic is from theories and methodologies. It is not either art or science. However, it is a cross-disciplinary ‘Art-science.’ Since the design discipline has been increasing its education, both master’s and Ph.D. programs worldwide, we need more design research journals to support our discipline to formulate and unify design research methodology and terminology. Therefore, the Design Behaviors Journal aims to standardize research methodology and vocabulary for the design discipline.

DEADLINES & SUBMISSION PREPARATION
Please follow these submission preparations. We cannot guarantee your submission will be considered if you do not follow them.

PROCEDURE
Step 1. Abstract Submission: Monday, April 27
– An abstract must be between 900 and 1000 words. You must use the official Abstract template (Microsoft Word file). Your Abstract file must be saved as a Microsoft Word and PDF file.
– Send your Abstract file to applyuda@gmail.com.
– No review fee for Abstract Submissions
Step 2. Acceptance Notification from UDA: Monday, June 1
Step 3. Full Manuscript Submission: Monday, August 31
– You must use the official Manuscript template (Microsoft Word file). Your Manuscript file must be saved as a Microsoft Word file and a PDF file.
– Send your Manuscript file to applyuda@gmail.com.
– Submitted Manuscripts are blinded-reviewed by the two reviewers. All manuscripts must follow the APA Style 6th Edition.
– Send your Review fee (us$100) via PayPal account applyuda@gmail.com. Please make sure you have the correct name and address.
Step 4. Final Acceptance Notification from UDA: Monday, October 12
Step 5. Final Manuscript (InDesign): Monday, December 7
– You must use the official Manuscript template (InDesign file). Your Manuscript file must be saved as an InDesign file (idml format) with all images and a PDF file. Do not change the layout and fonts.
– Send your Manuscript file to applyuda@gmail.com.
Step 6. Publication Date: Monday, December 28

MANUSCRIPT REVIEW FEE
– Submitted Manuscripts are blinded-reviewed by the two reviewers.
– Send your Step 3. Review the fee (US$ 100) via PayPal’s account https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/udalliance. Due by Lat Monday, August. Please make sure you have the correct name and address.

AWARD CERTIFICATE & PUBLICATION
All finalists will receive a Certificate via email.
All finalists are permanent collections of the UDA archive.
