Books are intricate objects that contain a wealth of details and layers of information beyond the main text of the literary work. These additional pieces of information are called paratexts, which can be categorized as pragmatic, semantic, or aesthetic-literary. Paratexts play a significant role in shaping the editorial object and influencing how readers engage with the content. Studying paratexts—whether in terms of their form, context, or usage—can provide valuable insights that inform decision-making in the editorial design process.
