Xu Jiayi is a visual communication designer and postgraduate student at Shandong University, with a foundation from Qilu University of Technology. Her work is positioned at the intersection of cultural heritage and contemporary visual language, aiming to create dialogue and understanding through design.

Early in her academic journey, she built a rigorous foundation in design principles and practical application. Her undergraduate studies and internship at Weifang Xingxia Decoration Engineering Co., Ltd. provided hands-on experience in translating client needs into compelling visual solutions—from optimizing architectural renderings to designing promotional materials that directly engaged audiences, such as attracting potential clients for real estate model rooms.

As a participant in international platforms such as the UDA Design Association, Xu Jiayi has collaborated globally, earning recognition, including the Bronze Award in the 2024 UDA Annual International Design Competition. Her competition works, like “Fearless to Move Forward” and “Breaking Barriers with Science,” demonstrate her ability to tackle complex social topics (e.g., AIDS awareness) with symbolic clarity, structured typography, and emotionally resonant visual narratives. This reflects her core strength: answering nuanced challenges with focused, impactful visual concepts.

In an ever-changing design landscape where expertise is continually redefined, Xu Jiayi sees opportunity in a problem-solving, creative approach applied with open-minded curiosity and cross-cultural sensitivity. She believes not every project is unique, but the best ones involve a synthesis of unique cultural insights and collaborative exchange.

Her strength lies in her ability to weave traditional Chinese cultural elements into contemporary visual communication, creating work that is both locally rooted and globally intelligible. Her experiences—from academic research to international competitions and client-based internships—have equipped her with a blend of strategic thinking, practical execution skills, and a collaborative spirit.
