UDA conducts AIRE (Applied Integrated Research) seminars to make aware that design is a purposeful creative expression of humanity and an applied form of utilization and distinction through extensive design-centered multidiscipline studies.



China x Korea Seminar

2022 AIRE | China x Korea Seminar, organized by Hanyang University in Korea and Shanghai Normal University in China, invites design researchers to present their application achievements and share discussions about Design Rhetoric.


Theme: “Semiotic Energy: Design Rhetoric”

Rhetoric is a creative human activity that originated in linguistics and can be used in literary language to enhance the effectiveness of the speech. If a design is considered a medium of “communication,” design rhetoric can be used as a technique of persuasion and communication to help strengthen the visual expression in creation.

We will have an open discussion of “design rhetoric” to explore how to use it for visual message communication. In addition, researchers from Korea and China will share various creative applications and studies.
